  At the end of my 6-7 min appointment and $200.00 later, I returned home, extracted pieces of fly larvae from my dog’s neck with my fingers, took these pieces and my dog to the vet in Newcastle, whom extracted even more pieces, cleaned up and disinfected the hole on the neck, contacted the lab to identify extracted pieces, went through the entire body examination, diet, behaviour, and much more (we spent one hour there, appointment started on a dot) for only $70.00.

  Very caring and honest. Our puppy was treated for a paralysis tick. He needed to stay for 3 nights. The clinic always kept us well informed of his progress took very good care of our puppy. They did not over charge or do any unnecessary intervention. I would highly recommend this clinic.

  Do your pets (and your bank account) a favour and take them to ANY vet in Newcastle. Been a local I’d love to support the local businesses, but unfortunately, I wish I can click NO stars to this practice.

  A textbook case of fly larvae was suggested to be CANCER, so Salamander ‘vet’ can run some very expensive but unnecessary test. The verdict was delivered in inadequate examination room with no sunlight, no spotlight or magnifying glass after primitive examination (or no examination) where no temperature, skin, teeth, dog’s diet, habits, wellbeing or any physical/emotional changes were checked. To make things worse, ‘vet’ verbally dismissed my statement about what I noticed in my dog.

  1 start can't give less. Can't send me a reminder for my dogs yearly heartworm and vaccination injections. 9 years running every year i bring up this problem. Took my dog to a new Vet he found a issue with you back leg that i been asking the salamander vets about for the last 4 years and was told she was fine.

  It is always a pleasure to visit Salamander Vet. All of the staff are warm and caring. Very reasonable rates!
